The Chinese company Havon will use color e-ink displays
for its e-reader. This is hailed as an important development in e-readers,
because it will bring the benefits of e-ink LCD screens do not. LCDs also
consume much battery power is an important factor, especially during travel
where the toll could be a problem. In addition, e-ink screens are easier on the
eyes and are not affected by the glare of sunlight.
On the other hand, the Havon 9.68-inch color e-reader also a minimal drawback because
it uses e-ink technology, therefore it has different colors crisp and clear
compared to LCDs. E-ink displays also couldn’t handle video and animation. But
with wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi and 3G as well as through the touch screen
technology, the color difference could not be easily distinguished.
From now on, Havon is silent on other specifications, such as internal storage
as well as the types of files it could support. However, since it aims to be as
competitive as possible with the current market leaders in e-reader, it will
certainly offer something better than the competition.
Finally, we must still wait some time before we can lay hands on him because
Havon plans to make it commercially available first in China in March
2011. The Havon e-reader will certainly be worth the wait as it will be offered
for only $440 considering an iPad costs China about $600. It's something to
watch out for!
